The
Lowe River through Keystone Canyon gives rafters a brief, yet very
enjoyable introduction to whitewater less than 20 miles (32 km)
northeast of Valdez. While the rafting trip takes only an hour, the
canyon doesn't lack either spectacular scenery or exciting
whitewater. Its nonintimidating Class II-III rapids can be enjoyed
by anyone above the age of five.
The
raft trip, which starts approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) above Keystone
Canyon, includes a midtrip stop at Bridal Veil Falls, where waters
cascade 900 feet down rock walls to the river bank.
Keystone's
outfitter provides rainsuits, life jackets and rubber boots.
