One of Alaska’s best one-day wilderness rafting adventures is the Sheridan Glacier river trip less than five hours east of Anchorage. Here, is described as an ‘Alaska-only’ rafting experience, guests paddle among giant blue icebergs, view magnificent mountain vistas, and enjoy exciting whitewaters. Raft trips are normally preceded by a short hike, led by a naturalist, along the terminus of the spectacular Sheridan Glacier. The hike ends and the raft trip begins at Sheridan Lake, a large lake formed by the melt waters of the Sheridan Glacier.
Upon leaving the Lake Sheridan, the Class II-III rapids immediately add excitement to the trip. After the rapids, there is time to relax and enjoy the scenery as you float across the Copper River Delta to the takeout. Guides prepare an Alaskan treat of smoked Copper River Salmon, and hot and cold beverages at the riverside.
