Cache Creek, a two-hour drive north of San Francisco, offers an excellent introduction to whitewater rafting. Its relatively easy
Class II-III whitewater and scenic canyons may be enjoyed by the most inexperienced paddler. Guests above the age of twelve my paddle their own rafts or two-person inflatable kayaks. Families with younger children will enjoy small guided paddle rafts.
Popular one-day trips begin at Cache Creek Canyon Regional Park. Two-day trips put in a Buck Island, some 13 milels (21 km) upriver. Two-day trips include overnight camping on the riverbank.
Daily water releases from Clear Lake and Indian Valley Reservoir normally permit sufficient water for rafting from May through August.
