The lower Klamath gives
families and first-time rafters a unique opportunity to enjoy either
a single-day or multiday whitewater trip. California and National
Wild and Scenic Rivers legislation protect the scenic river, with
deep-wooded canyons and abundant wildlife.
Exciting
Class II-III rapids alternating with quiet stretches offer a
near-perfect blend of rafting, swimming, hiking, fishing, and
relaxing on the trip beginning at Happy Camp. Its flow, along with
that of the upper Klamath, is dam-controlled; it has consistently
reliable water levels throughout the summer months.
Rafting
enthusiasts seeking a Klamath adventure that combines both the upper
and lower sections should ask outfitters for information about five-
or six-day river extravaganza.
