The lower Stanislaus River, between the Goodwin Canyon Dam and Knight's Ferry, is a very challenging Class III-IV+ whitewater stretch. Goodwin Canyons gorges varied terrain and geologic formations including Table Mountain, deep granite canyons, and rolling foothills. Technical Class IV+ rapids in the canyons include Mr. Toads Wild Ride, Pinballs, and Haunted House. Other canyon attractions are its wildlife and the site of a gold-rush town destroyed by floods.
