The Truckee River, only a
20-minute drive from Reno, Nevada, provides rafters with beautiful
eastern Sierra scenery and lively whitewater, just below nearly 11
miles (18 km) of the historic Donner Trail. While the Truckee’s
most challenging whitewater trips result from the spring snowmelt
from Lake Tahoe during May and June, rafting is usually possible
until early October.
Interested
rafters should ask travel agents at Reno and Lake Tahoe-area hotels
to assist them with information about whitewater rafting on the
Truckee River.
