The
Arkansas River's most favored section is granite-walled Browns
Canyon, a few miles south of ‘rafting-town’ town of Buena Vista.
This relatively easy 12-mile (19-km) adventure has exciting, yet not
intimidating, whitewater. Numerous large boulders and a gradient of
almost 40 feet per mile create dozens of exciting and somewhat
technical Class III+ rapids, such as Zoom Flume, Pinball, Big Drop,
Staircase, Widowmaker, Siedell's Suckhole, and Twin Falls.
