The middle Colorado’s
Horsethief-and-Ruby canyons float trip is ideal for anyone wishing
to enjoy a spectacular river canyon, a desert environment, and very
mild waters. Near Loma, the middle Colorado turns south from
Interstate 70 to flow through the two canyons that can only be
enjoyed from the river.
On
the multiday float trip, there is ample time to admire the river’s
spectacular sandstone canyon walls, explore its side canyons, or
relax on its sandy beaches. The float trip is quite popular with
families and the disabled.
Take-out
for the Horsethief-Ruby canyons trip is at the Westwater Ranger
Station in Utah. There are some Horsethief-Ruby-Westwater trips for
those wishing to conclude their multiday canyon experience with more
substantial and challenging whitewater.
