The Jacques Cartier River, like the Batiscan to the west, is another of Quebec's recent whitewater rafting success stories. La Riviere Jacques Cartier named after the famed seventeenth-century French explorer, features challenging rapids and breathtaking scenery, less than a thirty-minute drive from the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City.
The Jacques Cartier flowing through a picturesque forested valley, has a series of ledge drops with steep shoots, that come in very quick succession. The Class III-V rapids, fast and frequent, are interspersed with fantastic play spots and locations for swimming and body surfing. Many rafters choose to run the river twice in a single day.
