Less than a
half-hour-drive east of Missoula, the middle Blackfoot River
provides an ideal introduction to whitewater rafting for families,
senior citizens, and first-time rafters. The raft trip passes
through beautiful pine-forested rocky gorges. Its relatively easy
Class II-III rapids alternate with quiet stretches of the river that
provide relaxing, fishing, and swimming.
Most
one-day raft trips on the Blackfoot cover about 12 miles (19 km).
Two-day trips with overnight camping normally travel about 30 miles
(48 km)
