Quite unlike the upstream
Murtaugh section of the Snake, Hagerman’s relatively calm waters
shouldn’t frighten anyone. The 8-mile (13 km) Hagerman trip, from
the Lower Salmon Falls Dam to Bliss Bridge, has mostly easy Class
I-II rapids, which are ideal for first-time rafters and families
with children as young as five years old. Paddle rafters have ample
time to sharpen raft control skills before Pillar Rapids,
Hagerman’s only Class III rapids.
