The Snake River, approximately 20 miles (32 km) south of Grand Teton National Park, affords vacationers two 8-mile (13-km) rafting choices. The first, near Hoback Junction, is a scenic float trip along the quiet waters of Snake that enables guests to relax and enjoy the mountain scenery. In addition to daytime trips, several outfitters offer morning and evening floats so visitors have a better chance to see much of the wildlife common to the region.

Downstream, from West Table Creek to Sheep Gulch north of Alpine Junction, the upper Snake River canyon offers a lively 8-mile (13-km) introduction to whitewater rafting. Class II-III rapids—Main Line, Three Oar-deal, Kahuna, Lunch Counter, Rope, Champagne and Cottonwood—are not difficult and can be enjoyed by families, seniors, and first-time rafters.
