 Season December-February

Between Marblemount and Rockport on the lower Skagit River, outfitters offer half-day winter float trips from December to February for wildlife enthusiasts who wish to see bald eagles. Migrating south from Alaska and Canada, more than 300 eagles now congregate in the Skagit River Bald Eagle Natural Area, adjacent to Washington Route 20, to feed on the river's spawning salmon. Sightings of the magnificent and endangered birds are very frequent because the eagles have become accustomed to seeing river rafts. Children as young as four years are welcome. Everyone is encouraged to bring a camera with a telephoto lens.
