Western North Carolina's Tuckaseigee River offers an enjoyable alternative to some of the more crowded and more difficult southeastern rivers. Its' mellow waters are also warmer than either the Nantahala or Ocoee rivers.
The Tuckaseigee's easy Class I-II whitewaters are ideal for families with children as young as four years. Together they may quickly learn new paddling skills and navigate the river's currents in either guide-supervised small rafts or inflatable kayaks.
Rafting on the Tuckaseigee is a relaxing and fun way for almost anyone to enjoy the Great Smoky Mountains' wildlife and scenery. Depending upon water levels, the Tuckaseigee River rafting trip normally takes about three to four hours.
